A number of past and present Sydney FC players have been associated with Wollongong. These include:
Goalkeeper Justin Passfield played with the Wollongong Wolves from 2001 to 2004. He has moved to the Newcastle Jets for the 2007-08 season. He returned to the Wolves for the 2008 season.
20 year old Central Defender Jacob Timpano was born in Wollongong and played for the Wolves from 2002 to 2005 before joining Sydney FC in the 2005/06 season.
Left Fullback Alvin Ceccoli played with the Wollongong Wolves between 1995 and 1999 and again in the 2004/05 season before joining Sydney FC in 2005/06. Ceccoli left Sydney FC at the end of 2006-07 and has signed a one-year deal with J. League Division Two club Avispa Fukuoka in Japan.
Right Midfielder Robbie Middleby had stints with the Wollongong Wolves in the '94, '95 and '96 seasons and then again 2001. Striker Sasho Petrovski played with the Wollongong Wolves from 1998 to 2001. He left Sydney FC at the end of the 2006-07 season to join the Central Coast Mariners.
Rising young gun 20 year old Ruben Zadkovich lives in Bulli and joined Sydney FC after a stint with Notts County in 2004/05.
25 year old forward Brendon Santalab who has returned to Australia after playing in Belgium and Budapest, has been signed by Sydney for the 2007-08 season. He comes from and now lives in Wollongong.
